Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar dominated at this year’s Grammy Awards, picking up eight gongs between them including for album of the year and best song.
This year’s Grammy Awards had a more somber tone as host Trevor Noah and several artists, including Kendrick Lamar, paid tribute to everyone affected by the devastating wildfires. This year’s awards, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, raised more than $7 million for everyone affected by the devastating Los Angles wildfires.
But that didn’t stop the typical heady mix of wild red carpet looks, including Kanye’s wife Bianca Censori who arrived nearly entirely nude, theatrical performances such as Chappell Roan sat atop a giant pink horse and flanked by rodeo clowns for “Pink Pony Club,” and the occasional political acceptance speech.
Grammy’s big winners:
- Kendrick Lamar took home five Grammys for Drake diss track “Not Like Us” including best song of the year and best record of the year. The hit also won best rap song, best rap performance and best music video.
- Beyonce won three Grammy’s, taking best album of the year and best country album for “Cowboy Carter.” She also won best country duo for “II Most Wanted” with Miley Cyrus.
- Chappell Roan won best new artist
- Sabrina Carpenter won best pop vocal album with “Short n’ Sweet” and she also took home best pop solo performance for “Espresso”
- Doechii won best rap album for “Alligator Bites Never Heal”
