The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has announced plans to roll out the 24-hour shift system in its *terminal* operations.

The introduction of the 24-hour shift system, which came in the March 2025 edition of TOR’s newsletter, seeks enhance and improve TOR’s operations *as part of the broader strategy of sweating its assets*It is believed that the systematic roll-out of the 3-shift system would *focus* at the loading gantry, *which is central to the Refinery Terminal Operations*With the roll out of the 24-hour system, the management hopes to enhance the terminal business and also improve productivity.
The 24-hour system will be divided into three shifts, allowing staff to work in turns around the clock.
It forms part of a holistic plan by the John Dramani Mahama government to facilitate a 24-hour economic system in Ghana.
The government aims to encourage businesses and state institutions to work in shifts to increase overall productivity and create more employment opportunities.
