Acclaimed actress Nia Long was officially enshrined in Hollywood history on Wednesday, September 16, receiving the 2,857th star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The ceremony, held at 6150 Hollywood Boulevard, celebrated Long’s storied, three-decade career in film and television—a body of work that helped shape the landscape of Black American cinema and pop culture.
A Star-Studded Celebration
Emceed by Variety correspondent Angelique Jackson, the unveil drew a massive crowd of fans, family, and industry peers. Long was honored in the Motion Pictures category, joined on stage by guest speakers including producer Graham King and hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg.
Snoop Dogg brought down the house with a heartfelt and witty tribute to the beloved actress, joking about her enduring status as a cultural icon.
“Nia Long, for about 30 years, had every Black man in America thinking he had a chance,” Snoop quipped to thunderous applause. “You didn’t. But she let you dream!”
Among the star-studded crowd attending to support Long were her former co-stars Morris Chestnut (Boyz n the Hood, The Best Man) and Tiffany Haddish, alongside numerous industry executives.
A 30-Year Legacy in Cinema
The four-time NAACP Image Award winner first captivated audiences in 1991 as Brandi in John Singleton’s landmark coming-of-age drama Boyz n the Hood. She quickly solidified her status as a leading lady throughout the 1990s and 2000s with unforgettable performances across romance, comedy, and drama.
Nia has featured in a lot of movies including Boyz In The Hood, The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, Big Momma’s House, Are We There Yet, amongst others.
Far from resting on her laurels, Long’s star on the Walk of Fame comes during a booming chapter in her career. She recently portrayed matriarch Katherine Jackson in the high-profile biographical drama Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua.
Additionally, Long recently wrapped production on the Netflix romantic drama Don’t Ever Wonder. Inspired by Maxwell’s 1996 classic album Urban Hang Suite, the project reunites her with her Love Jones co-star Larenz Tate, with Long serving as an executive producer.
Taking the podium to reflect on her decades in the industry, Long expressed deep gratitude to her family, mentors, and the fans who have supported her journey from South Los Angeles to Hollywood Boulevard. The newly unveiled star now stands as a permanent monument to her enduring impact on American entertainment.
