In what is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated cultural highlights of the year, Grammy Award-winning reggae icon Gramps Morgan is bringing a major cross-cultural celebration to West Africa with the launch of the Ghana-Jamaica Homecoming Festival.
Spanning two dynamic days on December 4 and 5, the festival is designed to bridge the Caribbean and Africa through a powerful blend of commerce, dialogue, and live music at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Bridging the Caribbean and Africa
Organized through a collaboration involving Broadway Entertainment, Dadason Entertainment, and Six Degrees Africa, the festival was envisioned by Gramps Morgan to serve as a bridge connecting Jamaica and Ghana. Beyond a musical concert, the event aims to deepen ties between the Caribbean and the African continent across culture, tourism, fashion, and business.
“This festival goes beyond music and celebration. It is about identity, ancestry and rediscovery,” Gramps Morgan shared during the official launch, emphasizing the long-term vision of uniting the global African diaspora.
A Two-Day Experience: Summit and Stage
The event kicks off on December 4 with an intensive business and trade summit, bringing together investors, entrepreneurs, and creative executives from both continents to foster economic partnerships in agriculture, fashion, food, and creative technology.
The momentum shifts to the live stage on December 5, featuring the headline acts led by the legendary reggae family band Morgan Heritage alongside Ghanaian reggae and dancehall heavyweight Samini, and outspoken radio personality and roots reggae artist Blakk Rasta. Parallel festival showcases and interactive platforms will run concurrently to align with Ghana’s ongoing diaspora engagement initiatives and highlight Pan-African solidarity.
Anticipation Builds for “Detty December”
As Ghana prepares for its annual wave of international visitors and diaspora tourists for the year-end festive season, the Ghana-Jamaica Homecoming Festival adds a high-profile economic and musical flagship event to the holiday calendar.
The two-day event will bring together entrepreneurs, investors, artists, policymakers and cultural leaders from Ghana, Jamaica and the global diaspora. It is expected to serve as a networking and investment platform, combining culture with business opportunities aimed at long-term economic impact.
“The idea behind Ghana Jamaica Homecoming Festival has come of age. It has been a decade of hardwork, resilience and endless sacrifices from me and my partner Abdul Fatau (aka Mayor Nima). Now it’s ready for the global stage and I am proud to have Ishmael Hanson on board for this new era. This is bigger than music. — Gramps Morgan (Nii Oyenii Mpese I), Grammy-Winning Reggae Artist & Festival Partner”
According to the organisers, the festival will feature live musical performances, cultural exhibitions, culinary experiences, panel discussions, and community engagement activities.

It will also include a dedicated business and investment forum, where stakeholders from Ghana and Jamaica are expected to explore trade opportunities and build strategic partnerships.
Organizers have confirmed that tickets are officially available online, with full venue schedules and additional artist announcements expected to be released by production partners in the coming weeks.
