Ghanaian musician ED3L has opened up about her lastest single “Butterflies“ which is having some massive rotation on the airwaves. According to her, the song which features one of Ghana’s baddest Reggae and Dancehall musicians Episode is a song that holds a special meaning for her.
“It is a record inspired by love, genuine affection and the beautiful emotions that come with finding joy in someone special“, she stated.
The song “Butterflies” is about being deeply in love with someone and experiencing that beautiful feeling of excitement every time you see them. It captures the kind of love where your feelings do not fade with time but become stronger with every encounter. For me, it is about finding happiness in someone’s presence and experiencing a connection that makes you appreciate love even more each day.

The inspiration behind the title comes from the familiar expression “butterflies in your stomach.” It is that indescribable feeling of excitement, nervousness and happiness that comes when you are around someone you genuinely love.
She explains that she wanted the title to reflect those emotions because that is exactly what the song represents to her. “Every time I see this particular person, the feeling grows, the affection intensifies, and I find myself falling even deeper in love. That is the emotion I wanted listeners to experience through this record“.
Speaking about the feature with Episode, ED3L explains the decision was a very intentional one. According to her, she has great admiration for his artistry, particularly his musical intelligence and the depth of his understanding of music. She states that Episode is someone who is deeply rooted in his craft, and she appreciates the level of thought, creativity and knowledge he brings into his music.
“What particularly attracts me to Epixode’s artistry is his ability to approach music with a strong sense of identity while remaining versatile and creative. His understanding of musical elements, lyrical expression and sound, alongside his ability to explore different musical influences, makes him an artiste I genuinely respect. I also love his craft, and these qualities played a major role in my decision to have him on this project“.
Epixode has carved a remarkable space for himself in Ghana’s music industry, particularly within the reggae and dancehall scene. Over the years, he has demonstrated his versatility through his ability to blend reggae and dancehall with other African musical influences, including highlife. His distinctive sound, lyrical depth, stage presence and dedication to his craft have contributed to his recognition as one of Ghana’s notable contemporary reggae and dancehall artistes. His experience and musical perspective brought an additional layer of creativity to this collaboration.
ED3L believes having Episode on “Butterflies” was not just about having another artiste on a song; it was about working with someone whose musical values and creativity she admires. “I wanted a collaboration that would contribute something meaningful to the record, and I believe his presence adds a unique dimension to the song. “Butterflies” is my way of expressing love in one of its most beautiful forms. I want listeners to connect with the emotions behind the record, whether they are currently in love, have experienced that special connection before, or are simply looking forward to finding it“.
ED3L wants to use this song to remind people of how beautiful love can feel when it is genuine. Sometimes, all it takes is seeing that one person to make your heart feel a certain way all over again. That feeling is what inspired “Butterflies” and she hope everyone who listens finds a little piece of their own love story in it.
