In a weekend filled with glamour, music, and romance, award-winning Ghanaian soul songstress Jane Awindor, widely known as Efya, has officially tied the knot with her Nigerian musician partner, Tomi Thomas.
The celebration spanned two days in Accra, featuring a rich, colorful traditional ceremony on Friday, November 6, followed by a lavish white wedding on Saturday, November 7.
The festivities commenced on Friday with a vibrant traditional ceremony that paid homage to Ghanaian cultural heritage. Dressed in custom-woven Kente, the Best In Me hitmaker exchanged vows with Thomas before close family members, traditional elders, and prominent personalities.
Among the dignitaries present was the Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, alongside industry figures including Sister Derby, Fella Makafui, Fantana, and Efia Odo. A particularly touching moment from the traditional rites showed Efya’s mother becoming visibly emotional as the singer was handed over to her husband’s family.
The couple sealed their marriage the following evening at the Underbridge Annex in Accra. Adopting a strict, sophisticated black-tie dress code, the event brought together the top tier of West Africa’s entertainment and media circles.
Efya walked down the aisle in a high-neck, corseted white lace gown featuring a floor-sweeping detachable long train, paired with a clean ponytail hairstyle. Tomi Thomas complemented her look in a white tuxedo jacket, paired with black trousers and a black bow tie, styling his signature dreadlocks neatly. Celebrity guests included Media mogul Nana Ama McBrown, alongside artists and socialites from Ghana and Nigeria, turned out in glamorous evening wear to celebrate the newlyweds.
Videos circulating across social media platforms show the couple sharing their first dance as husband and wife to a live performance, cheered on by colleagues from across the African creative industry.
Congratulations to Efya and Tomi Thomas on their union.
