Otumfuo Osei Tutu II hosts Ghana-Poland Golf tournament to boost bilateral business and cultural ties

In an effort to leverage sports diplomacy for economic collaboration, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, hosted a friendly tournament uniting Ghanaian and Polish golfers at the historic Royal Golf Club in Kumasi.

The high-profile event merged sportsmanship with bilateral engagement, creating an informal environment for business executives, dignitaries, and cultural ambassadors from both nations to deepen ties and explore shared economic ventures.

Strengthening Economic and Cultural Bridges

The Polish delegation was led by prominent European industrialist Rafał Brzoska, founder of international logistics powerhouse InPost. The tournament was organized through a joint initiative between the Manhyia Palace and the Omenaa Foundation, a philanthropic organization established by Ghanaian-Polish entrepreneur Omenaa Mensah.

Beyond the fairways, the gathering served as a strategic summit aimed at opening new trade routes, investment partnerships, and educational initiatives between Ghana and Poland.

“Golf provides a unique, relaxed atmosphere where formal barriers come down, allowing for meaningful dialogue that drives real economic growth and cross-border friendship.” Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene

Strategic Outcomes and Key Highlights

The engagement underscored the expanding role of traditional African leadership in driving economic development beyond traditional government channels. Key highlights from the tournament included initial discussions on introducing European logistics, technology, and supply chain innovations into West Africa’s expanding commercial sector.

Additionally, the collaboration spotlighted joint humanitarian efforts, with the Omenaa Foundation pledging continued support for educational infrastructure and youth empowerment programs across the Ashanti Region. The event concluded with an evening networking reception at the clubhouse, where delegates agreed to formalize future trade delegations and cultural exchanges between Accra, Kumasi, and Warsaw.
