Ghana and the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis have signed an additional bilateral labour agreement aimed at strengthening health sector collaboration and extending legally protected employment conditions for Ghanaian healthcare professionals.
The agreement was signed on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York by Ghanaian officials and the Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, The Honourable Dr. Geoffrey Hanley.
Under the terms of the accord, Ghanaian nurses deployed to the Caribbean nation will receive enhanced conditions of service. Key provisions guarantee legally protected salaries, comprehensive health insurance coverage, housing and rent allowances, end-of-service benefits, and additional labour rights designed to safeguard their welfare while abroad.
The diplomatic engagement forms part of Ghana’s broader strategic efforts to export skilled labour through formal government-to-government frameworks, ensuring that professionals working overseas operate under transparent, fair, and legally binding contracts.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, officials praised the international reputation of Ghanaian medical workers, noting that foreign demand for the country’s professionals reflects high global standards in training and expertise.
“I commend Ghanaian professionals for making us proud all over the world as many countries continue to seek their outstanding services and expertise,” the official statement noted, adding that Ghana remains committed to pursuing “impactful diplomacy which benefits the people we serve.”
